The Institute of Medical Psychology, Psycho-Oncology and Psychosomatics develops educational initiatives for students who wish to deepen their knowledge in the fields of clinical psychology, psycho-oncology, psychosomatics, psychotherapy and clinical social work.
Our aim is to create a connection between academic training and real clinical practice. That is why the training is directed not only towards acquiring theoretical knowledge, but also towards understanding how this knowledge is applied in work with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
The programmes for students include lectures, practical seminars, discussions of clinical cases, thematic workshops, meetings with practising specialists, participation in scientific and educational initiatives, and opportunities to observe professional working models, in compliance with all ethical and confidentiality requirements.
We pay particular attention to topics such as the clinical interview, psychological assessment, the psychosocial needs of patients with severe and chronic illness, communication with patients and relatives, the psychological aspects of medical care, professional boundaries, ethics, and work within an interdisciplinary team.
The training is suitable for students of psychology, medicine, social work and other related disciplines who have an interest in clinical practice and wish to develop their professional thinking already during the course of their education.
We believe that good professional training requires more than knowledge. It requires the capacity for observation, critical thinking, ethical sensitivity and an understanding of the person beyond the symptom and the diagnosis.
